I was born and grew up in Nova Scotia Canada, studied fine arts in Halifax and Montreal. Employed as an art therapist in Halifax, an interpretive artist at Fortress Louisbourg and a film maker at the National Film Board in Montreal.

I received three years of formal training in fine arts before turning to photography. The transition from drawing to another medium was straight forward due to a solid background in the visual arts.

Viewing my first photography in 1968 was the magical moment that generated enough feedback to last a lifetime. It was natural to approach photography as a classical art form guided by an intuitive vision.
